Every business needs EFFECTIVE advertising. Ads that don’t work waste time and money and can drain resources.
How do you create effective ads? Here are a few tips and tricks.
Stand Out from the Competition
What makes your business different from your competitors? How are you unique? Or how can you make yourself unique?
Cutting through the clutter is important. You want your ad to attract attention. Generate buzz. Make your product or service compelling and identify what you do that no one else does.
Grab Attention with a Strong Headline
People see so many ads each day that they can’t possibly read each one. They scan items quickly. Once again, you want to grab someone’s attention, make them stop and read your article, or check out your product.
An effective headline can do this.
When crafting your headline, ask yourself, “Who are you trying to attract? What would get their attention?” Be bold. Be different.
The Irresistible Offer
Everyone loves a good deal. Give your customers a bargain, and they’ll keep coming back.
It can be an unbeatable price, a free trial, free shipping or a bundled package. Anything that makes your customer feel they’re getting a bargain.
Benefits, Benefits, Benefits
You can explain the features of your product and service, but that’s not effective advertising. You want to showcase the benefit — what your customer gets out of it. Define your service or product and then figure out how this helps your customer. That’s the benefit you want to showcase.
Reduce Risk
People don’t like to spend money. Especially on inferior products or bad service. It’s natural to fear getting cheated. Your job is to remove this fear. You can do this by offering a risk-free guarantee. Just knowing they can get their money back will put customers more at ease. This is called “risk reversal,” and it’s a powerful tool.
Create a Sense of Urgency
You want your customers to use your service or buy your product. And you want them to do it NOW. To achieve this, create a sense of urgency; offer a limited-time promotion or sale. People hate to pass up a deal (see above) and giving them a deadline makes them more likely to act.
Use Interesting Visuals
Impactful graphics help get your ad noticed. Plain text on a plain background is visually dull. Add photos, art or other graphics to grab people’s attention and increase their interest.
The All-Important Call to Action
Every ad has the same goal: Get the customer to ACT. Get them to click your ad, order your product, pay for your service, do SOMETHING.
Using exciting words and persuasive language can give them that extra push.
If you’ve crafted a strong headline, an irresistible offer, outlined the benefits, reduced risk, created a sense of urgency, used eye-catching visuals, and made a compelling call to action, you’ve created an effective ad.
